the-startuplaunch-2016-winner-inkbeams

InkBeams has become the big winner of The StartupLaunch 2016. They received the grand prize of €1.000 offered by Kennispark Twente and six months free office space offered by BTC-Twente. The jury saw in InkBeams a team that developed a promising concept for a needle-free injection mechanism in just 54 hours. The prize for the most original pitch went to Winchester Locks and their bicycle lock without keys. They received three consultancy hours from Cottonwood Technology Fund. The three marketing sessions offered by Marketing Sync went to Holographegg which had the most original idea for creating a holographic game that motivates children to play outside.

The winner of The StartupLaunch 2016
InkBeams is founded by David Fernandez Rivas and the team consisting of Lea Milovich, Pedro Arias and Merle Tucholka collaborated together to develop the idea. InkBeams offers a needle-free injection mechanism which has potential in several application fields. The level of the ideas from the participants was very high, which led to a difficult choice for the jury. The jury members finally chose InkBeams as the winner of the grand prize. According to the jury, this needle-free injection mechanism was promising because it can solve some serious problems, the technique is validated, the potential market is gigantic and already interested.

The second place for the overall prize was for Holographegg. If they succeed to create a hype around their product as well as their app and they can hold on to their users for a long period of time, the judges say that they are on the right track! The third place was for Gameployer with their serious game for evaluating job candidates. The judges see this as a great idea which could solve a huge problem with a world wide market. However, a part of the technology has to yet be developed and validated on reliability. If they succeed with this, the idea is a real winner.

Most original Pitch
First place for most original pitch went to Winchester Locks with their bicycle lock without using keys. They used actual bikes in their pitch and according to the judges they portrayed the problems with using keys very convincing. Second place was for WeCycle with an appealing movie incorperated into their pitch about the world wide problem of plastic waste. Gameployer came in third with a real sales pitch to convince potential investors.

Most original Idea
The prize for most original idea went to Holographegg which has combined to hypes, the Tamagotchi and Pokémon Go, and to contribute to get people more active, was judged as very original. Second place was for InkBeams for using a technology which existed for a long time to use it in a market that can have a great influence. The judges decided that the third place was for Laatste woorden (Last words) for choosing an original theme and that they focus on security of the data and not on selling big data.

Jury
The jury of The StartupLaunch consisted of Alain le Loux (Cottonwood Technology Fund), Niels Jansen (Dutch Student Investment Fund) and Nico Nijenhuis (Clear Flight Solutions). They have assessed the teams based on the business model, the market and the implementation during the weekend.
